Lesotho Fly Fishing Adventures - Guide: Fred Steynberg ...
Trip Itinerary
We will depart for Lesotho from Rhodes at 5:00am, taking the spectacularly picturesque route over Lundeans Neck Pass, entering Lesotho via the Telle Bridge border post. Here we stop for coffee and rusks, arriving at our fishing destination at approximately 08:30 – 09:00. Anglers will begin to venture onto the rivers at around 09:30, enjoying a full days fishing until about 17:30 -18:30. We will regroup back in the village for sundowners under the starlit African sky. Dinner will be prepared by the Linecasters guides and served between 20:00 and 21:00.

The next morning sees a relatively early start with breakfast at 7:30, whereafter anglers will spend the day on the river, breaking at midday for lunch. The afternoon will be spent on the rivers until 17:30 – 18:30. We then return to the village and enjoy the evening around the camp fire, discussing the day. Dinner will be served between 20:00 and 21:00.
We will breakfast at 7:30 on the third morning and fish until about 13:00, regrouping for lunch at the camp. We then journey back to Rhodes, arriving in Rhodes at about 18:00.

Trip Information
- The guides will travel in a 4x4 single cab vehicle with all the gear and food required for the trip. Clients are advised to bring high clearance 2x4 or 4x4 vehicles to undertake the journey into this remote region of Lesotho. We travel in convoy to our destination. The trip takes 3 - 4 hours even though it is only 195km from Rhodes. Due to the traveling time we suggest that you arrive in Rhodes the day before departure, accommodation and meals can be arranged.
- We live in Basotho huts in a Lesotho village. These huts are beautifully clean and well kempt especially for us, but do not have electricity or mod-cons of any kind. Do not let this put you off, it is a truly incredible experience.
- The pristine, almost untouched rivers that we fish are protected by the local chief/community leader and the fishing is outstanding. On these specific trips we target rainbow trout with the average size of the fish 11 – 16 inches. Many fish of around 18-24+ inches are caught on these trips and are in excellent condition. Nymphs are used in the deeper pools and dries in the riffles and runs.
- The guides we use to host the trip are THETA approved, R.E.F.F.I.S qualified guides.
- All meals will be catered for by the Linecasters team; tea, coffee, some soft drinks, lunchpacks and dinners will be provided. Please bring anything extra that you think you may like to have with you, including your own alcoholic beverages.
